What's new on the Game Music Home Page

7th January, 2002:
Wow, another "update" in only half a year! Surely the site isn't that actual... But I want to keep it, to preserve a little bit of World Wide Web history. ^_^ The site is 7,5 years old now, and I've read the average lifetime of new web sites is about 100 days. This time I just wanted to remove the mirror links, since they were down for long now.

14th June, 2001:
Hmm, the MOTD should be renamed to 'Message of the Year'. ^^; I haven't completely abandoned the site. But in my opinion, if this was the first Game Music page, it should be also the last. The server has moved again, back to good ol' Germany with www.lool.net being redirected. I've gone through the entries in the link section, and what should I say: it's all my fault! Well, I removed the vanished ones and succeeded in finding the new homes of a couple of others. I've deleted the FTP files section completely, because if there're FTP sites left, they're linked from the web sites.

20th May, 1999:
The site has moved to LooL.net, a server situated in the US. Please update your links and bookmarks, and tell all your friends. I've removed the wish list, because people kept on requesting while nobody seemed to be able or willing to fulfill any wishes. I'm trying to develop a more useful approach to the problem, but this may take quite some time.

3rd December, 1997:
The midi section of the home page has joined the newly founded MIDI Game Music Ring, which concentrates on midi files rather than those with binary audio data, which are usually larger in size. The ring has just started so check back every once in a while.

8th September, 1997:
The amount for PC Game Music has increased extraordinarily. Quite good news isn't it? ^_^ However, I've decided to replace many of my locally stored PC archives with links to other sites. Gives me more room for my other homepages. I don't think that this would be a drawback for you users. The links should be even faster for most of you. Well, see you!

31th March, 1997
There is a second mirror now in Australia run by xxx (name deleted on request). This is definitely something for all you Australian Game Music fans. Go for it.

26th March, 1997
Many people have requested to my that I put all my midi files in one big archive. However, I was obliged to say "no" because I just don't have enough disk space. But now Ben Romer has made such an archive. It contains many files from my site and also from other sites. The archive expands to over 10MB so check it out at the Listener's Section.

2nd March, 1997
I'm very sorry for this, but there has been a mirror of this site for quite a while now, but I've simply forgotten to backlink to it. So here it is at last. Maybe some of you can download files more quickly now. The mirror is run by a private person so appreciate his work. I'm glad for such a service.

25th February, 1997
Argh, the admins have decided to not let the public have the statistics. I'm very sorry for that but I can't do much against it. So all you currently have are the old statistics of the last years.

4th February, 1997
The situation is a bit better now. I've linked some of the archives to a remote site. Thanks to the people who offered me help. Additionally, there are now some new access statistics. The logs are on another machine but you can have access to them by the normal link. However, it is the complete statistics for all my pages.

The next topic are the access statistics. You may have noticed that they have not been updated recently. The reason for this is a new web server at my site which caches accessed files and the logs on a remote location. I'm not so sure if I can continue with the access logs the next year. Sorry about that.

27th December, 1996
The time has now finally come that my account is full. The large PC game midi archives are mainly responsible for this. For a temporary solution, I have put some of the new files on an extra account. But I could lose it anytime so beware. For a better solution I need your help. If you can offer game music by yourself, contact me. It would be a great relief. Or when you can upload your files to some FTP site I would be glad to set up a link to it. Thanks!

14th November, 1996
If you're wondering about the star on the top of the page, this just leads to a navigation page allowing you to browse the Game Music Home Page and my other pages quickly.

27th September, 1996
There's some Game Music you definitely want and which isn't found at the Listener's section or on the links page? Then tell the Internet community about your problem on the new List of Wishes. The page contains a form to submit your wish to be displayed on the very same page. Hopefully, someone on the net will read your message and provide a newly sequenced midi file for you.
If you think you can help with one of the submitted wishes, contact me. You'll feel good afterwards. Having helped someone is one of the most satisfying feelings. ^_^

15th January, 1996
Subsections which have been updated during the last week will be marked with a tag: -updated- from now. The indicator vanishes after 7 days. I think this should be most useful for the Listener's Section. On that page the updated or new files are additionally displayed in a bold font (but also only for a period of a week).
I've decided to remove the Final Fantasy midifiles from my pages because you can get a whole bunch of them at the SquareSoft Home Page as well as a couple of MODs, S3Ms and XMs. The page should be even faster for you. Of course I provide a link to it on the "Links" page.

2nd January, 1996
A Happy New Year from the Game Music Home Page!
The access statistics page switched to 1996, of course. I've finally decided to zip all midifiles I've got. That MIME encoding problem couldn't be solved. But nobody should have downloading problems now. Sorry about not updating the page for a long time, but I'm really busy :-( (thanks to my other pages). At least I've got one new file: the R-type battle theme. I've also added a short text about irem's music.

15th November, 1995
I just realized that accesses of remote files can't be logged. So links to other sites won't be counted on the access statistics page. Sorry about that.
I've also added a (very) short text about western Game Music on the main page. Hope you find it useful.

21st July, 1995
On the "Links" page, I'll not only store links to binary files but also links to other WWW pages. First site is the Maniacs of Noise Home Page. If you ever come across Game Music related pages, tell me. Thanx!

7th July, 1995
There's now an access statistics page available. Look it up if you want to check the number of downloads of the documents and binaries. Since using own cgi-bins isn't possible on this site (for security reasons), it'll be updated unregularly. For example it won't be updated on weekends. Hope you understand that little penalty.

5th July, 1995
Humbert Humbert (HHUMBERT@delphi.com) is offering his Video Game Music CD FAQ here. Check it out, it features: over 500 titles, mail-order companies and many other infos. It comes in a zip archive and is in DOS text format.

9th June, 1995:
Did you miss the Doom and Doom2 midifiles which were posted on Usenet before? They're here. Plus two other new archives:
Heretic and The Secret of Monkey Island.

5th December, 1994:
A whole bunch of Midis for you PC game music fans has just arrived. You'll find new music from many games e.g. Privateer, Legend of Kyrandia, Strike Commander etc. Zipped, they consume 763407 bytes of disk space! Have fun!

24th October, 1994:
If you want to get hold on some Game Music CDs, check out the new Game Music CD shopping guide. You'll find a list of Cds and Adresses where to buy these there. Thanks to Danielle Scott (pirotas@ranma.com) and Steve Pearl (starbuck@remus.rutgers.edu) for providing the list.

26th September, 1994:
If you're not only interested in Midifiles, you can link to other sites on the new page below. For now, there are links to C64 Mods and a link to a big bunch of .SID format files for Sidplay (PC) available.

22th September, 1994:
If you have any complaints, suggestions, comments or whatsoever, feel free to mail them to me. Remember, things can only get better. There are some more Midifiles available now: Check out the Listener's section. In the future, you can check the second date at the bottom of the page to see if there's anything new since you last visited.

15th September, 1994:
Game Music Midifiles online!
Check out the new music file page. There you can find .MID files from games on C64 and PC and of course music from arcade games. You'll find links to some newgroups, too. Enjoy!

12th August, 1994:
Messages of the Day installed! This should be the first message you read ;-). Here, you can see what's new on this page. You can look up older messages on a seperate page.
